Overview
I am a lecturer in Welsh and my main research and teaching areas include
- Twentieth century literature and contemporary literature (in particular poetry (free verse and strict metre)
- Nineteenth century prose (in particular life writing)
- Biography, autobiography and life writing
- Creative Writing and writing skills
I was appointed in 2003 as Research Assistant on the project ‘Perfformio o’r Pulpud’ (‘Performing from the Pulpit’) studying orality and performance in nineteenth and twentieth century dramatic Welsh preaching. In 2011, I was awarded a PhD degree for a dissertation on the development of Welsh biographical writing, focusing mainly on the lives written by Rev. Owen Thomas (Liverpool) to the notable and powerful preachers John Jones, Tal-y-sarn and Henry Rees. From 2009 to 2014, I contributed to the teaching of the Welsh Language Sabattical Scheme at the School of Welsh.
