Overview
Teaching Overview
My teaching duties include the role of co-module leader for the ‘Glaucoma 1 (Prof Cert Glauc)’ module and lead for the ‘Primary Eye Care Theory’ module both of which form part of the MSc Clinical Optometry portfolio. Within these roles I am responsible for organising the courses, designing their structure, and delivering lectures and tutorial sessions. Through my other responsibilities as a clinician within the NHS Wales Eye Care Centre I also supervise placement students studying towards the College of Optometrists Higher Certificate in Glaucoma. Additionally, I supervise MSc research projects and MOptom students studying the ‘Enhanced Services’ and ‘Primary Care’ modules during their 2nd and 3rd year of study.
Research Overview
My interests include public health related to eye care, particularly for those with glaucoma. Specific areas of interest include optometrist therapeutic prescribing and involvement in the provision of ophthalmic laser. I am also interested in teaching and assessment strategies within health care.

Biography
After passing the College of Optometrists professional qualifying examination in 2009 I practiced as an optometrist in North West England and South Wales. I returned to Cardiff in 2014 and was awarded a PhD at Cardiff University School of Optometry and Vision Sciences in 2018. Shortly after that I was appointed as Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes, a role which I held for 2 years. Presently my responsibilities as a clinical academic involve leading a patient-facing glaucoma clinic within the NHS Wales Eye Care Centre and teaching / supervising across the School's glaucoma portfolio.
