Overview
After passing the College of Optometrists professional qualifying examination Grant practiced as an optometrist in North West England and South Wales. In 2018 he was awarded a PhD at Cardiff University School of Optometry and Vision Sciences. Grant's present role as Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes involves providing leadership in the development and enhancement of postgraduate taught courses at the School.
Outside of his academic role Grant still practices as an optometrist and has experience as a pre-registration supervisor. He is a College of Optometrists councillor for Wales, vice-chair of the South East Wales Regional Optical Committee (SEWROC) and a former assessor for the Eye Health Examination Wales (EHEW) service. Grant holds postgraduate certificates in glaucoma, low vision, medical retina and coaching/mentoring. He is currently studying towards Independent Prescriber status.
