Biography
I studied law at Aberystwyth University and the College of Law, Guildford. Following my training, I worked as a solicitor at Morgan Bruce and Morgan Cole (now Blake Morgan LLP) in Cardiff and Swansea, specialising in company and commercial matters. This included company and business sales and acquisitions, corporate finance, non-contentious employment law, and occupational pension schemes. I continued to provide advice to Morgan Cole on a consultancy basis following my appointment to Cardiff University.
Early in my University career, I pursued a further degree course on a part-time basis at the University and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in vocational training. I published an article on practical research skills for trainee solicitors based on my B.Ed dissertation. I have also published several articles on expert witness skills for professionals.
Later, I researched and wrote a Masters dissertation on the decline in employment tribunal claims between 2013 and 2017, and was awarded a LLM in Legal Practice. I have also published a practice report on the "Streetlaw in the Employment Tribunal" project I supervise as part of the University's pro bono offering to students.
