Overview

LLB (Hons), LLM International Commercial Law, AFHEA

Ian is a postgraduate research student in the School of Law and Politics. His postgraduate research is in the field of trade mark law, although he also has significant interest in company, commercial and consumer law.

Ian obtained his first degree, an LLB (Hons) with first class honours, from Nottingham Law School and his second degree, an LLM International Commercial with distinction, from Cardiff University. Ian achieved the highest mark in his year at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Outside of his ongoing PhD research, Ian teaches on the undergraduate intellectual property law module at Cardiff University and has previously taught on the company law module. Ian also works for a national law firm, where he specialises in consumer and commercial contract litigation. Ian is an associate fellow of Advance HE.

 

Research

The focus of Ian’s research is currently in the field of trade mark law, looking at “real value” of survey evidence in trade mark litigation. The research includes a significant comparative element, examining the law and judicial approach in the United Kingdom, United States, and Germany.

Although Ian’s research activity is currently focussed on his PhD thesis, he also has significant interest in the fields of company, commercial and consumer law.
