Biography
I served in the Royal Air Force from 1989 - 2014, while serving I obtained a Foundation Degree in Paramedic Science from Birmingham City University in 2011, then registering with the HCPC as a Paramedic. During my Royal Air Force (RAF) career, I worked in numerous Pre- Hospital, Primary and secondary Health Care Establishments within UK and worldwide.
On leaving the Royal Air Force I moved into Education working as a visiting Lecturer at Birmingham City University and a Freelance Clinical Tutor for ambulance Trusts throughout the UK, along with completing a BSc (Hons) in Pre Hospital Emergency Care in 2014 from Coventry University. In 2016 I took a full time post as Lecturer at Birmingham City University and in 2018 promoted to Senior Lecturer, and completing a PG Cert in Teaching in Higher Education and MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the same year, from Birmingham City University and University of South Wales respectively.
Whilst at Birmingham City University I held a number of academic positions including Programme Lead and Clinical Placement Lead. As Programme Lead with the support of colleagues I re-designed and validated a Paramedic accelerated programme, that mapped to both QAA and HCPC benchmarks which allowed ambulance technicians to use previous education and training to gain a qualification that would allow them to register as paramedic, attempt to widening participation in higher Education.
I joined Cardiff University as a Lecturer (Adult Nursing) in 2021, and gained Senior Fellowship in Advance HE in 2025.
