Understanding Holocene Oceanographic Changes and Glacier Behaviour in Sherard Osborn Fjord, Greenland

This study aims to investigate the changing dynamics of Sherard Osborn Fjord waters and examine the association between Middle Holocene Ryder Glacier retreat and warm Atlantic Water incursions. By employing the neodymium isotope tracer and the Arctic foraminiferal Mg/Ca paleothermometer to analyze marine cores collected by the Oden icebreaker, this research will reconstruct the historical evolution of water sources and temperature variations at centennial resolution. The implications of these records will be explored with ice sheet modelling, which will improve our understanding of Greenland Ice Sheet dynamics. The results will provide critical insights to the broader understanding of Arctic Ocean-Cryosphere interactions.
