Biography
Dr Yiming Xu is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the CLEETS (Clean Energy and Equitable Transportation Solutions) Global Centre at Cardiff University. His current research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, data science, and sustainable energy systems. He develops machine learning and reinforcement learning models to optimise electric vehicle charging, distributed energy trading, and city-scale energy management, with a strong emphasis on system resilience and cybersecurity.
Prior to joining Cardiff, Dr Xu completed his PhD in Energy and Power at Cranfield University. His doctoral work centred on dynamic pricing mechanisms and market design for distributed energy systems, and involved close collaboration with industry partners such as NESO, Brill Power, and SNRG. These projects addressed challenges in smart charging, battery lifecycle optimisation, and peer-to-peer energy exchange.
