Overview
Ran Zhang is a PhD candidate at Cardiff Business School, specializing in Economics. He served as a PhD Student Representative for Cardiff Student Union from 2020 to 2024. Ran is also a member of the Welsh Institute for Research in Economics and Development. He obtained an MSc in Financial Economics, an MSc in Economics, as well as an MRes in Economics from Cardiff University, all awarded with Distinction.
Ran’s research interests encompass, but are not limited to, carbon markets, market spillovers, green finance, portfolio strategy, green bonds, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues.
In addition to his role as a PhD researcher, Ran has been a teaching assistant since 2020. He also served as the project coordinator for the 2023 SustainaWHAT project (now known as SPROUT), which is jointly organized by Newcastle University, Bournemouth University, and Cardiff University. The project aims to promote sustainability-related research interests among postgraduate researchers (PGR) and early career researchers (ECR), fostering a PGR-led research network across the three institutions.
