Overview

I am a second-year PhD student in the School of English, Communication and Philosophy at Cardiff University. My main research interests include sociolinguistics and applied linguistics, media studies, and gender studies. I have experience in using critical discourse analysis, particularly corpus-assisted discourse studies (CADS) and multimodal approaches. My current research uses CADS to examine how masculinities and femininities are discursively constructed and transformed on Chinese social media.

Academic Background:

January 2025–present: PhD in Language and Communication, Centre for Language and Communication Research, School of English, Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University.

October 2023–December 2024: MA Digital Culture and Communication, Digital Humanities Institute, University of Sheffield.

October 2022–September 2023: MA Politics and Media in East Asia, School of Languages, Arts and Societies, University of Sheffield.

Research and Teaching Experience:

In February 2025, I worked as a Research Assistant on a project developing a multilingual toolkit for corpus linguistics. During the autumn semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, I also taught on the undergraduate module How Language Works 1 as a Graduate Tutor.
