Mae Neil wedi gweithio mewn gwahanol leoliadau iechyd meddwl ers 1985 yn y GIG yn y DU (Cymru a Lloegr) ac Awstralia. Mae Neil hefyd wedi gweithio yn y sector preifat yn Ysbyty Priordy Bryste, ac ers 2001 ym Mwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Caerdydd a'r Fro o fewn Adran Seiciatreg Gyswllt, Gwasanaeth Straen Trawmatig fel Seicotherapydd Ymddygiadol Gwybyddol gyda chyfrifoldeb am y bartneriaeth gyda Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub De Cymru a'r GIG tan 2008.
Ar hyn o bryd mae Neil yn cael ei gyflogi fel Cyfarwyddwr ac Arweinydd Clinigol Ymgynghorol yng Ngwasanaeth GIG Cyn-filwyr Cymru (VNHSW). Mae'r gwasanaeth yn cynnig asesiad a thriniaeth iechyd meddwl cleifion allanol ar gyfer cyn-bersonél y gwasanaeth sydd â phroblemau iechyd meddwl sy'n gysylltiedig â'r gwasanaeth. I gael rhagor o wybodaeth ewch i www.veteranswales.co.uk. Roedd Neil yn Gapten yng Nghronfeydd Wrth Gefn y Fyddin gyda 203 o Ysbyty Maes Cymru. Cafodd ei anfon i Afghanistan rhwng Hydref 2013 a Ionawr 2014 ar Herrick 19a fel yn rhan o Dîm Iechyd Meddwl Maes y Fyddin. Mae ganddo deitl Uwch Gymrawd Ymchwil er Anrhydedd gyda Phrifysgol Caerdydd.
Mae Neil yn darlithio ac yn cynnal gweithdai yn rheolaidd ar effeithiau seicolegol trawma a therapi seicolegol ar gyfer personél meddygol ac anfeddygol. Mae wedi ysgrifennu dros 50 o bapurau a adolygwyd gan gymheiriaid, penodau llyfrau - ar seicotherapi ymddygiadol gwybyddol sy'n canolbwyntio ar drawma, cyn-bersonél y gwasanaeth, ymyriadau cynnar ar gyfer Anhwylder Straen Ôl-drawmatig a therapi ailbrosesu dadsensitifeiddio symudiadau llygaid (EMDR).
Mae Neil wedi bod yn rhan o sawl RhCT ac Adolygiadau Systematig gyda Grŵp Ymchwil Straen Trawmatig Prifysgol Caerdydd dan arweiniad yr Athro Jonathan Bisson, yn ymchwilio i ymyrraeth newydd ar gyfer trin PTSD.

Mae Neil wedi bod yn rhan o bedwar treial rheoledig ar hap ar gyfer PTSD, a) PTSD sy'n gwrthsefyll triniaeth mewn cyn-filwyr, gan brofi rhith-realiti newydd a therapi melin draed (3MDR) fel Prif Ymchwilydd (cwblhawyd yr astudiaeth ym mis Gorffennaf 2019); b) profi gwefan hunangymorth dan arweiniad yn erbyn rhestr aros (cwblhawyd yr astudiaeth yn 2017) c) yn erbyn Therapi Gwybyddol traddodiadol ar gyfer PTSD mewn sifiliaid (cwblhawyd Mawrth 2021) d) profi'r Dechneg Ailddirwyn (1991) yn erbyn rheolaeth rhestr aros ar gyfer PTSD (cwblhawyd ym mis Mawrth 2022).
