Wedi ei anodi Cyfieithiad o Dronaparvan y Mahabharata's
Rwy'n cymryd rhan mewn ymgais gydweithredol ryngwladol i gwblhau'r cyfieithiad Saesneg o'r Sanskrit Mahabharata a ailgyfansoddwyd yn feirniadol a ddechreuwyd ddiwedd y 1960au gan J. A. B. van Buitenen. Ers diwedd 2020, rwyf wedi bod yn gweithio ar gyfieithiad anodedig ysgafn o seithfed llyfr y Mahabharata, y Dronaparvan. Mae'r llyfr hwn yn 173 o benodau o hyd ac yn adrodd digwyddiadau'r unfed diwrnod ar ddeg i'r bymthegfed diwrnod o'r rhyfel 18 diwrnod, pan arweiniwyd byddin Kaurava gan Drona, maestro'r Brahmin oed.
Dulliau Trawsddisgyblaethol i'r Ramayana a Mahabharata
Dechreuodd y prosiect penagored hwn yn 2020 fel cydweithrediad rhyngof fi, Laxshmi Greaves, a James Hegarty, gyda'r nod o ddarparu llwyfan ar gyfer ehangu a chryfhau'r ddeialog rhwng y disgyblaethau o fewn Hanes Niwroleg a Chelf. Cynhaliwyd cyfres seminarau ar-lein ryngwladol yn haf 2021, a chyhoeddwyd cyfrol o drafodion yn 2022.
Testun, cyfieithu a dehongli Stori Krishna Gynnar: Prosiect Harivamsha Caerdydd
Cynhaliwyd y prosiect hwn yn yr Adran Astudiaethau Crefyddol a Diwinyddol ac fe'i ariannwyd gan Gyngor Ymchwil y Celfyddydau a'r Dyniaethau rhwng Hydref 2011 a Medi 2014. O dan fentoriaeth Will Johnson, cynhyrchais gyfieithiad Saesneg o'r Sansgrit Harivamsha fel y'i hailgyfansoddwyd yn feirniadol mewn 118 pennod gan P. L. Vaidya ym 1969. Ymchwiliais i'r dull testun-feirniadol a ddefnyddiwyd i ailgyfansoddi'r testun: pa mor addas ydoedd i'r Harivamsha, a beth yw statws y fersiwn a ailgyfansoddwyd yn feirniadol? Ceisiais hefyd ail-werthuso'r berthynas rhwng yr Harivamsha a'r Mahabharata.
Hanes Achau, Achau Hanes: Teulu ac Adeiladwaith Naratif y Gorffennol Arwyddocaol yn Ne Asia Gynnar
Mae De Asia cyn-fodern wedi cael ei chyflwyno'n gyson ond yn wallus fel tir heb 'hanes'; ond yn y prosiect Achyddiaeth a Hanes (Medi 2008 i Awst 2011), bu James Hegarty a minnau yn archwilio sut, yn Ne Asia, mae 'hanes teuluol' neu 'naratif achau' wedi bod yn adnodd parhaus ar gyfer ffurfio a thrawsnewid dealltwriaeth o'r gorffennol. Ein cwestiwn ymchwil allweddol oedd: Beth yw rôl naratif achyddol yn Ne Asia gynnar?
Mae hanes teuluol wedi cael ei ddefnyddio - ac yn dal i gael ei ddefnyddio - fel rhywbeth o labordy hapfasnachol lle i drafod syniadau am sut y gallai un, neu y dylai rhywun fyw (a llawer mwy ar wahân). Archwiliodd y prosiect hwn ffurfiau a swyddogaethau hanesion teuluol mewn ffynonellau llenyddol ac arysgrifol Sansgrit. Drwy wneud hynny, mae'n taflu goleuni ar hanes diwylliannol De Asia gynnar, a hefyd archwiliodd y ffyrdd y mae grwpiau cymdeithasol dynol yn tarddu, cynnal a thrawsnewid dealltwriaeth o'r gorffennol sylweddol. Ariannwyd gan yr AHRC.
Adeiladau Epig: Rhyw, Myth a Chymdeithas yn y Mahabharata
Arweiniwyd y prosiect hwn gennyf i a Brian Black yn Adran Astudio Crefyddau yn yr Ysgol Astudiaethau Dwyreiniol ac Affricanaidd, Prifysgol Llundain, rhwng Ebrill 2004 a Mawrth 2007. Archwiliodd sut mae materion rhywedd yn cael eu defnyddio gan y Sansgrit Mahabharata o ran ei naratif a'i athroniaeth. Archwiliodd mewn cyd-destun hanesyddol adeiladwaith y testun o wahanol rolau normadol o ran rhywedd, ac archwiliodd themâu penodol penodol penodol yn y Mahabharata yn fanwl, megis y berthynas rhwng patriliny, brenhiniaeth, ac aberth; pwysigrwydd gwrandawyr benywaidd; Rhywedd syniadau athronyddol Purusha a Prakriti; dimensiwn cynrychioladol deurywiol brenhiniaeth; cynrychioli rhyweddau amwys; ac adeiladu deialog hunaniaethau rhyweddol. Ariannwyd gan yr AHRC.
