Rwy'n Uwch Ddarlithydd Clinigol ac yn Ymgynghorydd Anrhydeddus mewn Iechyd Cyhoeddus Deintyddol yn Ysgol Ddeintyddiaeth Prifysgol Caerdydd. Rwy'n cael fy nghydnabod gan y Cyngor Deintyddol Cyffredinol fel Arbenigwr mewn Iechyd Cyhoeddus Deintyddol ac rwy'n Gymrawd o'r Gyfadran Iechyd Cyhoeddus. Rwyf wedi cael fy nghydnabod fel Arweinydd sy'n Dod i'r Amlwg mewn Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol gan Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal Cymru, sy'n adlewyrchu fy ymrwymiad i wella iechyd y geg poblogaeth drwy ymchwil, addysg a gwasanaeth y GIG.
Mae fy ngwaith yn cwmpasu ymchwil i weithredu tystiolaeth, defnyddio gwrthfiotigau deintyddol, effaith tlodi ar iechyd y geg, a chefnogi gwneud penderfyniadau ar y cyd mewn ymarfer clinigol. Mae gen i dros £0.5M o ddal grantiau, hanner hyn fel Prif Ymchwilydd.
Rwy'n addysgu Iechyd Cyhoeddus Deintyddol a Deintyddiaeth Seiliedig ar Dystiolaeth i fyfyrwyr israddedig ac ôl-raddedig ac yn goruchwylio ymchwil ôl-raddedig. Rwy'n darparu arweinyddiaeth academaidd i Uned Gwybodaeth Iechyd y Geg Cymru, gan gynnwys Rhaglen Epidemioleg Ddeintyddol GIG Cymru.

CAM 2 - Ymgysylltu â rhanddeiliaid i wneud y gorau o effaith rhaglenni brwsio dannedd dan oruchwyliaeth
Mae pydredd dannedd ymhlith plant Cymru yn gwella ond mae'n parhau i fod yn uchel, gyda 32.4% o blant 5 oed wedi'u heffeithio yn 2022/23. Mae'r rhaglen Designed to Smile (D2S) yn targedu plant mewn ardaloedd difreintiedig gyda brwsio dannedd dan oruchwyliaeth, farnais fflworid, a chymorth rhieni. Er bod cyfranogiad yn gryf cyn y pandemig, gwelodd y rhaglen ostyngiad sylweddol mewn ymgysylltiad ar ôl tarfu COVID-19. Er bod cyfranogiad ysgolion meithrin bron wedi dychwelyd i'r lefelau blaenorol, mae cyfranogiad ysgolion cynradd yn parhau i fod yn is na'r cyfraddau cyn y pandemig.
Nod yr astudiaeth yw archwilio pa ffactorau sy'n rhwystro neu'n hwyluso recriwtio ysgolion cynradd yn gadarnhaol i'r rhaglen Designed to Smile (D2S).
Bydd yr astudiaeth yn defnyddio cyfweliadau lled-strwythuredig ansoddol i archwilio safbwyntiau rhanddeiliaid allweddol sy'n ymwneud â'r rhaglen D2S a'r rhai sy'n ymwneud â'r broses o wneud penderfyniadau gyda'r ysgolion cynradd sy'n cymryd rhan/nad ydynt yn cymryd rhan.
Ariennir yr astudiaeth hon gan Gyfrif Cyflymu Effaith Cytûn y Cyngor Ymchwil Feddygol.

Rwy'n arholwr allanol ar gyfer cwrs BDS Prifysgol Birmingham ac MSc mewn Iechyd Cyhoeddus Deintyddol Coleg y Brenin, Llundain.

Graddiais o Brifysgol Caerdydd gydag anrhydedd dosbarth cyntaf mewn Baglor mewn Llawfeddygaeth Ddeintyddol yn 2009 ac yna cwblheais PhD yn 2015 a gradd Meistr mewn Iechyd y Cyhoedd (gyda rhagoriaeth) yn 2018. Dechreuais hyfforddiant arbenigedd Iechyd y Cyhoedd Deintyddol yn 2015 a phasio'r Arholiad Cymrodoriaeth Arbenigedd Cyd-golegol yn 2020 a dyfarnwyd y Dystysgrif Cwblhau Hyfforddiant Arbenigol i mi yn 2021. Mae gen i gofrestriad llawn gyda'r Cyngor Deintyddol Cyffredinol ac rydw i wedi fy enwi ar y rhestr arbenigol ar gyfer Iechyd Cyhoeddus Deintyddol.
