Mae Emrah Demir yn Athro Ymchwil Weithredol yn Ysgol Busnes Caerdydd, Prifysgol Caerdydd. Mae hefyd yn gwasanaethu felcyfarwyddwr y Rhwydwaith BEAR (Business & Economics Artificial Intelligence Research Network), menter ymchwil ryngddisgyblaethol sy'n hyrwyddo cymhwyso AI a gwneud penderfyniadau ar draws meysydd busnes ac economeg. Cyn ymuno â Chaerdydd, roedd yn Athro Cynorthwyol ym Mhrifysgol Technoleg Eindhoven (TU/e) yn yr Iseldiroedd. Mae ganddo B.Eng. a M.Sc. mewn Peirianneg Ddiwydiannol o Brifysgol Başkent, Twrci, a Ph.D. mewn Gwyddor Rheoli o Brifysgol Southampton, y DU.
Mae ymchwil yr Athro Demir yn gorwedd ar groesffordd logisteg werdd, deallusrwydd artiffisial, a gwneud penderfyniadau cydweithredol dynol-AI, gyda sylfaen gref mewn ymchwil weithredol a gwyddor trafnidiaeth. Mae ei waith yn canolbwyntio ar ddatblygu a chymhwyso dulliau optimeiddio mathemategol uwch, metaheuristics, a dysgu peiriannau i fynd i'r afael â heriau cludo nwyddau a chynaliadwyedd yn y byd go iawn. Mae wedi ysgrifennu dros 70 o erthyglau cyfnodolion a adolygwyd gan gymheiriaid a chwe phennod llyfr, ac mae ei ymchwil wedi derbyn mwy na 7,400 o ddyfyniadau (h-index: 36, Google Scholar). Mae ei gyhoeddiadau yn ymddangos mewn cyfnodolion blaenllaw fel Transportation Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research Part A, B, C, D ac E.
