Mae Susanne yn Uwch Ddarlithydd mewn Daearyddiaeth Economaidd. Ymunodd â Phrifysgol Caerdydd ym mis Rhagfyr 2023. Mae ei hymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar ysgogwyr datblygu economaidd lleol a rhanbarthol, gyda diddordeb arbennig mewn dylunio ac effeithiolrwydd polisïau datblygu diwydiannol a lleoli. Cyn ymuno â Chaerdydd, roedd hi'n Gydymaith Ymchwil Ôl-ddoethurol yn Ysgol Lywodraeth Blavatnik, Prifysgol Rhydychen, lle bu'n archwilio polisïau datblygu trefol ar draws dinasoedd Ewrop. Ar hyn o bryd mae hi hefyd yn Gymrawd Ymchwil yn y Sefydliad Cynhyrchiant ac yn Gymrawd Miguel Dols yng Nghanolfan Cañada Blanch yn Ysgol Economeg a Gwyddor Wleidyddol Llundain (LSE).
Cwblhaodd Susanne ei PhD mewn Daearyddiaeth Economaidd a dal Cymrodoriaeth LSE mewn Datblygu Economaidd Lleol yn yr LSE. Mae hi'n dod â phrofiad sylweddol fel ymgynghorydd i sefydliadau a llywodraethau rhyngwladol, ar ôl gweithio gyda Banc y Byd, UNCTAD, a sefydliadau eraill. Cyn ei hastudiaethau doethurol, treuliodd Susanne sawl blwyddyn gyda Dalberg Global Development Advisors, lle bu'n cefnogi cleientiaid fel Sefydliad Gates a'r Ganolfan Masnach Ryngwladol mewn mentrau cynllunio strategol. Gweithiodd hefyd yn Guatemala am ddwy flynedd gyda Fundesa, melin drafod a ariennir gan y sector preifat, gan gydweithio'n agos â Weinyddiaeth yr Economi ar strategaeth datblygu economaidd gynhwysol.

Mae fy niddordeb ymchwil cyffredinol yn troi o gwmpas deall ysgogwyr datblygu rhanbarthol a threfol; sut y gall polisi ddylanwadu ar y gyrwyr hyn yn ogystal â chanlyniadau cymdeithasol ac economaidd anghydraddoldebau gofodol. Hyd yn hyn, rwyf wedi archwilio'r diddordeb cyffredinol hwn trwy bedwar llinyn ymchwil:
- y berthynas rhwng trefoli, dinasoedd a datblygu economaidd (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma am erthyglau nad ydynt yn dechnegol ar y pwnc hwn)
- gweithredu polisïau datblygu lleol mewn economïau sy'n dod i'r amlwg (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma am adroddiadau polisi yr oeddwn yn un o'r prif awduron ar eu cyfer)
- prosesau trawsnewidiol mewn dinasoedd y Gorllewin a pholisïau datblygu trefol (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma)
- rôl banciau datblygu y wladwriaeth ar gyfer datblygu rhanbarthol a lleol (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma)

Yn fy ymchwil rwy'n ymdrechu i berthnasedd polisi ac wedi gweithio'n agos gyda sefydliadau rhyngwladol, gan gynnwys Banc y Byd ac UNCTAD yn ogystal â llywodraethau lleol.
Addysgu
Rwy'n ymwneud yn gyffredinol ag addysgu dulliau ymchwil a modiwlau sy'n gysylltiedig â daearyddiaeth economaidd. Fi yw arweinydd y modiwl ar gyfer y cwrs blwyddyn gyntaf mewn "Economïau Trefol", yn cwmpasu adran feintiol y modiwl "Cyflwyniad i Ddulliau Ymchwil" yn yr ail flwyddyn ac yn addysgu ar y modiwl MSc "Governing Urban and Regional Dynamics".
Rwyf hefyd yn goruchwylio myfyrwyr israddedig ac ôl-raddedig ar gyfer eu traethodau hir ac yn gweithredu fel tiwtor personol.
