Rwy'n ddaearyddwr economaidd sydd â diddordeb yn y ffactorau sy'n gyrru datblygiad economaidd lleol a rhanbarthol yn ogystal ag effeithiolrwydd polisïau datblygu diwydiannol a lleol. Ymunais â Phrifysgol Caerdydd ym mis Rhagfyr 2023, gan ddod o Ysgol Lywodraethu Blavatnik ym Mhrifysgol Rhydychen, lle'r oeddwn yn gydymaith ymchwil ôl-ddoethurol, yn ymchwilio i bolisïau datblygu trefol yn ninasoedd Ewrop gyda'r nod o helpu i lywio polisïau Codi'r Gwastad yn y DU. Cyn hynny, cwblheais PhD mewn Daearyddiaeth Economaidd a gweithiais fel Cymrawd mewn Datblygiad Economaidd Lleol yn Ysgol Economeg a Gwyddor Wleidyddol Llundain.
Mae gen i brofiad helaeth o weithio fel ymgynghorydd gyda sefydliadau a llywodraethau rhyngwladol, er enghraifft gydag Ymarfer Masnach a Chystadleurwydd Banc y Byd ac UNCTAD. Cyn fy PhD, gweithiais am sawl blwyddyn gyda Dalberg Global Development Advisors, gan gefnogi sefydliadau fel Sefydliad Gates a'r Ganolfan Masnach Ryngwladol yn eu prosesau cynllunio strategol. Treuliais ddwy flynedd hefyd yn Guatemala, yn gweithio i Fundesa, melin drafod a ariennir gan y sector preifat, ac mewn cydweithrediad agos â Gweinyddiaeth Economi Guatemala ar bolisïau economaidd i'r wlad.

Mae fy niddordeb ymchwil cyffredinol yn ymwneud â deall gyrwyr datblygiad rhanbarthol a threfol; sut y gall y gyrwyr hyn gael eu dylanwadu gan bolisi yn ogystal â chanlyniadau cymdeithasol ac economaidd anghydraddoldebau gofodol. Hyd yn hyn, rwyf wedi archwilio'r diddordeb cyffredinol hwn yn bennaf trwy dri llinyn ymchwil:
- y berthynas rhwng trefoli, dinasoedd a datblygiad economaidd (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma am erthyglau annhechnegol ar y pwnc hwn)
- gweithredu polisïau datblygu lleol mewn economïau sy'n dod i'r amlwg (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma am adroddiadau polisi yr oeddwn yn un o'r prif awduron ar eu cyfer)
- prosesau trawsnewidiol yn ninasoedd y Gorllewin a pholisïau datblygu trefol (gweler er enghraifft yma ac yma)

Yn fy ymchwil, rwy'n ymdrechu i sicrhau perthnasedd polisi ac rwyf wedi gweithio'n agos gyda sefydliadau rhyngwladol, gan gynnwys Banc y Byd ac UNCTAD yn ogystal â llywodraethau lleol.
Addysgu
Yn gyffredinol, rwy'n ymwneud ag addysgu dulliau ymchwil a modiwlau sy'n gysylltiedig â daearyddiaeth economaidd. Fi yw arweinydd y modiwl ar gyfer y cwrs blwyddyn gyntaf mewn "Economïau Trefol" ac rwy'n ymdrin ag adran feintiol y modiwl "Cyflwyniad i Ddulliau Ymchwil" yn yr ail flwyddyn.
Rwyf hefyd yn goruchwylio myfyrwyr israddedig ac ôl-raddedig ar gyfer eu traethodau hir ac yn gweithredu fel tiwtor personol.
