Mae'r Athro Diarmait Mac Giolla Chríost yn aelod o Uned Ymchwil yr Ysgol ar Iaith, Polisi a Chynllunio. Mae yn frodor o Iwerddon ac yn awdurdod ar leiafrifoedd ieithyddol a chynllunio ieithyddol. Mae ei ddiddordebau ymchwil eraill yn cwmpasu nifer o feysydd, gan gynnwys natur y berthynas rhwng iaith a gwrthdaro, o berspectif cymharol, Ewropeaidd, ac, yn ogystal, iaith yng nghyd-destun y ddinas, a hynny o berspectif cymharol a rhyngwladol. Mae ganddo nifer o gyhoeddiadau ym mesydd y gwyddorau cymdeithasol, daearyddiaeth a chymdeithaseg iaith. Mae'n Gymrawd o'r Gymdeithas Ddaearyddiaeth Frenhinol ac yn Gymrawd o'r Gymdeithas Hanesyddol Frenhinol.
