Trosolwyg
Peter's research and teaching focus on three broad themes. Firstly, he has a keen interest in urban livelihoods and the informal economy, focussing on the use of public space, conflicts with government and the potential of rights based approaches to address issues of exclusion. Secondly, he is a leading expert in the field of housing and homelessness in a developed world context. His research in this area has focussed on the housing pathways of very vulnerable people and again he has examined rights-based approaches as a potential solution to housing poverty. Children and young people have been a key focus in Peter's urban livelihoods studies and his housing and homelessness research, hence this constitutes the third theme of Peter's research. In all of Peter's research he has sought to understand the experiences of people in poverty from their own perspectives by adopting and developing participatory research methods, including the peer approach.
His research has been funded by a range of organisations, including the Welsh Government, local authorities, the Big Lottery, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and the British Academy. Peter is currently the FEANTSA Research advisor for the UK and convenor of the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) Housing Research Network.

Ymchwil
Peter is a member of the Urban and Regional Governance Research Group, Chair of the Wales Housing Research Network @ WISERD and UK Advisor for FEANTSA.
Interests / Areas of Expertise
- Housing Policy
- Homelessness Policy and Law
- Urban livelihoods and the informal economy
- Participatory research methods
Peter's research focuses on three broad themes.
