Ymchwil

Informed by various economic theories, including New Institutional Economics and Behavioural Economics, my research explores the ways in which decision-makers can design land, housing, and planning policies that are more effective, efficient, and equitable. My policy research and practice experiences have been in an international context, involving projects in the USA, UK, Switzerland, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Iran, and Mauritania.

My recent published works focus on the self-build and custom housebuilding sector in the UK, land policy in Switzerland, and housing development in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Previously, I examined the extent, drivers, and distribution of transaction costs in transferable development rights (TDR) programmes in the US state of Maryland. My research is highly regarded by experts in the field. I have been the winner of two prestigious awards: The Royal Town Planning Institute Award for Research Excellence 2018 and the Journal of the American Planning Association Article of the Year Award 2019.

Addysgu

I lead the postgraduate modules ‘Planning and Real Estate’ and ‘Critical Planning Practice and Research’. I also contribute to several modules including 'Site Planning and Development Valuation', 'Space and Place: International Planning Practice',Environmental Policy and Climate Change’, Community Engagement, Mediation and Negotiation Skills’, and ‘Research Project’.
