Ymchwil
Projectau
Brenhinllin Constantinian
Mae'r prosiect hwn yn canolbwyntio ar hanes Brenhinllin Caergystennin yn ei chyfanrwydd, yn hytrach na chanolbwyntio ar ffigurau unigol yn unig. Yn fwyaf diweddar, rwyf wedi ystyried Constantius I a'i ddisgynyddion trwy ei briodas â Theodora, a chyflwyniad Julian o aelodau'r teulu yn ei ysgrifau. Ym mis Gorffennaf 2024 fe wnes i gyd-drefnu gyda'm cydweithiwr Yr Athro Nicholas Baker-Brian panel ar 'Frenhinllin a Lle yn yr Ymerodraeth Gystennin', fel rhan o'r Gynhadledd Geltaidd yn y Clasuron, a gynhaliwyd yng Nghaerdydd, ac rydym yn datblygu hyn i'w gyhoeddi.
Brenhinllin Macedonia
Rwy'n cynhyrchu cyfres o astudiaethau ar Frenhinllin Macedonia, un o'r llinachau hiraf yn hanes Bysantaidd, gan ganolbwyntio'n benodol ar ei hanes fel llinach a'i hunan-ormes a sut mae'n cael ei gyflwyno gan eraill. Yn ddiweddar astudiais lys Macedonia, rôl Golden Gate Caergystennin yn hanes a bywyd seremonïol y frenhinllin, a chynnwys a darlunio aelodau llinach ym Mywyd Basil yr Ieuengaf. Yn 2024 siaradais yn Symposiwm Gwanwyn Astudiaethau Bysantaidd, ar gyfiawnder dwyfol a Brenhinllin Macedonia.
Eunuchs: Hanes byd-eang
Mae fy ngwaith ar eunuchiaid yn cael ei wahaniaethu gan ei ddiddordeb yn hanes byd-eang y ffenomen, nid eunuchiaid yn yr ymerodraethau Rhufeinig a Bysantaidd yn unig. Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n gweithio ar lyfr ar eunuchiaid a Chaergystennin, ond rwyf hefyd yn datblygu prosiect ar eunuchiaid yn hanes y byd.
Rhyw a rhywioldeb yn yr ymerodraethau Rhufeinig a Bysantaidd diweddarach
Mae rhan o'm gwaith ar eunuchiaid yn ymwneud â materion rhywedd a rhywioldeb, ond rwy'n cael fy ymyrryd yn y pynciau hyn mewn perthynas â phobl nad ydynt yn eunuchiaid hefyd. Cyd-drefnais banel gyda Larisa Vilimonovic (Prifysgol Belgrade) ar 'Gyrff Bysantaidd' yn y Gyngres Ganoloesol Ryngwladol yn 2022, ac rydym wedi datblygu hyn i'w gyhoeddi. Rwyf wedi ysgrifennu pennod ar ryfel a gwrywdod yn hanes Leo'r Ddiacon o'r 11eg ganrif am gyfrol ar War and Masculinity in Roman and Medieval Culture. Yn ddiweddar, rwyf hefyd wedi cyhoeddi pennod yn y Cambridge World History of Sexualities, aml-gyfrol Caergrawnt, ar ryw yng Nghaergystennin yn y chweched ganrif OC.
Teulu yn yr ymerodraethau Rhufeinig a Bysantaidd diweddarach
Mae fy ngwaith ar linach Caergystennin a Macedonia wedi meithrin fy niddordeb ym mhwnc teuluoedd. Yn ddiweddar, rwyf wedi ysgrifennu ar chwiorydd yn Llinach Macedonia, a neiniau a theidiau yn y Brenhinllin Cystennin. Byddaf yn cynhyrchu papurau ar frodyr a chwiorydd a rhieni yn Byzantium, ar gyfer cyhoeddiad aml-gyfrol ar Kin and Kinship in the Medieval World (Bloomsbury).
