Fy niddordeb ymchwil eang yw nodi systemau a dulliau sy'n hyrwyddo gwaith cymdeithasol effeithiol gyda phlant a theuluoedd.
Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n ymgymryd ag ymchwil ddoethurol a ariennir gan ESRC ac rwy'n rhan o'r Gymuned Ddoethurol o fewn CASCADE, y Ganolfan Gofal Cymdeithasol a Datblygu Ymchwil Plant. Mae fy PhD yn archwilio arweinyddiaeth mewn gwaith cymdeithasol amddiffyn plant trwy astudiaeth ethnograffig o arweinwyr mewn gwasanaethau plant awdurdodau lleol, dan oruchwyliaeth yr Athro Donald Forrester a'r Athro Martin Kitchener. Fy nod yw hyrwyddo ein dealltwriaeth o arweinyddiaeth mewn gofal cymdeithasol plant.
Rwy'n cymryd rhan weithredol mewn prosiectau ymchwil eraill ochr yn ochr â'm hyfforddiant doethurol. Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n cael fy nghyflogi fel Cydymaith Ymchwil o fewn SCALE, y Ganolfan Gofal Cymdeithasol a Dysgu Artiffisial, a sefydlwyd yn ddiweddar i ymgymryd ag ymchwil drawsddisgyblaethol i harneisio pŵer AI mewn gofal cymdeithasol. Fel Cyd-Ymchwilydd ar gyfer 'SWEET' (Social Worker Evidence Engagement Tool), prosiect cydweithredol gyda Chyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot a ariennir gan y Sefydliad Cenedlaethol ar gyfer Ymchwil Iechyd a Gofal (NIHR), Rwy'n gweithio gydag ymarferwyr gwaith cymdeithasol, rheolwyr, arbenigwyr academaidd, ymchwilwyr a gwyddonwyr cyfrifiadurol i archwilio a all offeryn Deallusrwydd Artiffisial (AI) pwrpasol helpu gweithwyr cymdeithasol a rheolwyr i wneud gwell defnydd o dystiolaeth ymchwil mewn gofal cymdeithasol plant.
Yn 2024, cwblheais werthusiad o 'Together a Chance', prosiect peilot tair blynedd a gyflwynwyd gan Pact (yr Ymddiriedolaeth Cyngor a Gofal Carchardai), gan ymgorffori gweithwyr cymdeithasol mewn dau garchar menywod yn Lloegr i gefnogi mamau y mae eu plant yn ymwneud â gofal cymdeithasol plant.
Cyn hynny roeddwn yn rhan o'r tîm ymchwil ar gyfer astudiaeth a gomisiynwyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru, yn arolygu gweithlu gofal cymdeithasol plant i ddeall yn well y ffactorau sy'n dylanwadu ar gyfraddau gofal yng Nghymru. Cynhyrchwyd yr adroddiad a'r briffio polisi ar y cyd gan Ganolfan Polisi Cyhoeddus Cymru a CASCADE.
Rwy'n dod â phrofiad o ofal cymdeithasol plant ac ymgynghori rheoli, ar ôl ailhyfforddi fel gweithiwr cymdeithasol yn 2010 ar ôl gyrfa gynnar yn gweithio ar brosiectau gyda chleientiaid y sector cyhoeddus a phreifat, yn bennaf yn y DU a Trinidad a Tobago.
Er bod fy ysgogiad cychwynnol ar gyfer gwaith cymdeithasol yn dod o fy mhrofiad fel rhiant plentyn anabl a gwaith gwirfoddol yn sefydlu rhwydwaith cyfranogiad rhieni a gofalwyr, mae fy ffocws yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf wedi bod ar ddiogelu ac amddiffyn plant. Rwyf wedi dal rolau diddorol ac amrywiol mewn ymarfer gwaith cymdeithasol, rheoli ac ymchwil. Cyn dod i Brifysgol Caerdydd, roeddwn i'n gweithio yn Awstralia yn goruchwylio sicrhau ansawdd a gwella ymarfer amddiffyn plant ar gyfer awdurdod iechyd rhanbarthol.
