Overview
I am a postgraduate research student interested in how we decarbonise our energy systems, with a particular interest in the potential role of local energy planning.
My previous study included an undergraduate degree in environmental science and a master degree in social science research methods, with my dissertation looking at the lessons learned from local area energy plans as local authorities aim to achieve national net zero targets.

Local Area Energy Plans: A viable option to help achieve net zero?
My research is interested in looking at how local authorities across Wales have formulated and used their local area energy plans. The plans have been produced in partnership with, and funded by, the Welsh Government, as a key part Wales’s approach to achieve net zero. However, as these plans move into their implementation phase, questions arise about the factors that may prevail on the scope to translate these plans into action. These factors include technical skills within local authorities, financing available to produce and implement new energy projects, and the powers that authorities have to act on local energy systems.
