Overview
I am a PhD research student at Cardiff University, researching the impact of electoral systems on voting behaviours, party ideology and policy, and the understanding of politics for the general public.
My research interests include electoral systems, voting behaviour, mixed-methods research, and comparative politics. In addition to my PhD work, I am interested in political theory, especially critical theory and post-structuralism.
Before coming to Cardiff to complete my MSc in Social Science Research Methods (Politics), I attended Aberystwyth University and studied Law and International Politics (LLB), in which I achieved first-class honours.

Election systems in Wales: the impacts of multi-level election reform on voting behaviour, ideology, and political understanding
This research will focus on the effect of electoral 'incongruence': the differences in election systems between the local, subnational (Senedd), and national (Westminster) elections in Wales. These effects may be visible in voting behaviours, differences in ideology and policy between layers of political party organisations, and political awareness and education of voters in Wales, and, therefore, possibly the overall turnouts for these different elections.
