Overview

My substantive role is a Allied health professional Prehabilitation consultant within Swansea Bay University health board. I am also a part time PhD student at Cardiff university. My clinical role includes working in services that support patients on surgical waiting lists. Predominantly Otrthopaedic surgery but also expanding to general surgery. Waiting lists support includes education, exercise and weight management optimisation. I lead a MDT of dietitian's and Physiotherapists. I have a strong research interest in the optimisation of patients for elective surgery alongside digital health. My current research allows me to understand how we best support and prepare patients for elective surgery. Using multi modal Prehabilitation and exploring technology and digital health opportunites.

Evaluation of a Prehabilitation pathway and measuring the health effects of extended surgical waiting times for Knee and Hip arthroplasty patients

Part time PhD started in October 2023. Mixed methods approach aimed to understand the impact and effects of extended surgery waiting times on patients health. Using longitudinal patient reported outcomes from an established database to monitor quantitative health changes. Qualitative data using focus groups to understands the lived experience of extended waiting times along with evaluating a Prehabilitation pathway.
