Overview
Benjamin Okenwa is a doctoral student with a research focus on applying computational methods to the planning and design of urban open spaces for enhanced physical activity. Benjamin gained his bachelor's degree in Architecture from Covenant University in Nigeria and a master's degree in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University in the US. He has professional experience working as a project design Architect in Nigeria and a Landscape Architectural designer in Los Angeles. Benjamin is conducting his research under the supervision of Dr. Wasim Jabi.

Spaces for Physical Activity: Using Computation to predict the Suitability of Urban Open Space for Physical Activity.
Benjamin’s research examines the relationship between the built environment and health, with a focus on how urban open spaces can better serve communities as destinations for engaging in diverse types of physical activity. Using computational methods, his study identifies optimal locations for open spaces that are both convenient and accessible. His approach integrates multiple analyses of existing physical environmental factors to inform design and planning decisions
