Professor of Public Management
Overview
I am a public management scholar focused on the strategic management of public organisations and the politics of local public administration. My research addresses the challenge of how public organisations maintain performance within complex governance landscapes. My work is published in leading journals like Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Public Administration and Public Administration Review.
Beyond my own research, I am committed to developing the next generation of scholars, currently supervising doctoral projects on corporatisation, digital readiness and public service innovation, while introducing evidence-based management principles for undergraduate students. My teaching and PhD supervision reflect my methodological breadth, covering everything from quasi-experimental designs and large-scale surveys to documentary analysis and case-based studies. Ultimately, my work seeks to combine academic rigour with a deep understanding of the practical realities of public sector management.
