Research
I was awarded a RCBC First into Research Fellowship from 2022-2023, to explore the experiences of participating in pre-habilitation programmes among people living with and beyond cancer.
My scholarly work is mainly centered around best practice to prepare students to transition to the registered workforce; development of the physiotherapy role in cardiorespiratory care and employability.
I currently supervise a range of UG and PGT research projects around these research topic areas.
Teaching
I am an experienced educator and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I also obtained a PgCUTL qualification in 2017. I teach and assess across a range of modules and programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and also supervise UG and PGT research projects.
I have programme management and leadership experience at both UG and PGT.
My teaching topics are closely aligned to my scholarship and engagement activities which centre on the development of the physiotherapy role in cardiorespiratory care; student preparedness to transition from student to registered physiotherapist, and employability.
I have embraced simulation-based education to support students in developing their competence and confidence in providing cardiorespiratory physiotherapy care. A particular focus of this work has been on developing students' awareness of emergency respiratory on-call working post-qualification and I have used a variety of simulation techniques and tools for this. This has also involved collaboration with the Cardiff University Learning & Teaching Academy as part of the University's Virtual Hospital Showcase Project.
I have experience as an External Examiner for both undergraduate and MSc pre-registration programmes in the UK.
