Teams and roles for Rhys Bevan-Jones
Senior Clinical Research Fellow, Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences
Overview
I am a psychiatrist and researcher with the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences.
I am interested in research and clinical work from child to adult life, and mental health difficulties during this key transitional period. I am dual-trained in psychiatry for children/adolescents and adults. I am also interested in the role of visual and digital media in mental health, and have studied illustration and graphic design at Central St Martins and Kingston University (London).
In 2018, I was awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) – to further develop a digital programme for depression in young people and to lead a trial on this. The programme was originally developed as part of an NIHR/HCRW Doctoral Research Fellowship (2013-2017). In 2022, I was awarded the 'Digital Innovation Award for Best Research on Digital Impact' by the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH). In 2024, I was awarded an Advancing Researcher Award by HCRW to develop my work further in digital and transition (child/adolescent to adult) mental health.
I am also working on projects such as the Wolfson Centre for Young People's Mental Health SWELL study, the Wellcome Trust risk stratification for early-onset depression study, Early Prediction of Adolescent Depression (EPAD) study, the PAMAd study to evaluate mental health services in Georgia, and the ADHD digital resource co-development project. I am a psychiatry advisor for the Canopi mental health support service for NHS and social care staff.
