Overview
I am the Director of Learning and Teaching for CPLS and the course leader for the Graduate Diploma in Law. I am also the subject lead on the Criminal Litigation and Advocacy modules on the LPC and Criminal Law on the Gradulate Diploma in Law. I also teach Trial Advocacy and Conference Skills on the Bar Training Course.
I graduated from the University of Westminster in 2000 and trained as a solicitor with leading London criminal defence firm, Sonn Macmillan Walker qualifiying in 2004. I continued to practise as a Criminal Defence Solicitor, conducting cases at the most serious level, until 2020.
My external commitments include appointment as an external examiner at the University of the West of England (2015-2019), BPP University (2018-2022) and currently at King College London. I work as a question writer, standard setter and examiner for the Bar Standards Board and an assessor for CILEX. I am a member of the Law Society's Criminal Law Commitee.
I am the author of Oxford University Press's SQE textbook 'Criminal Law and Practice', which is currently in its third edition. The text is one of a series of textbooks to prepare candidates for Part 1 of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
