Overview

I work on the religious art and architecture of the Indian subcontinent dating from the ancient to early medieval period (c. 2nd century BCE to the 10th century CE). In recent years I have focused primarily on interpreting visual narratives and especially on temple representations of the epic Rāmāyaṇa. I am currently conducting research on ancient India and the natural world.
