Overview

I lecture journalism on Cardiff University's BA courses.

I am a journalist with extensive experience in many forms of journalism after years of working on daily news and also on current affairs for the BBC, ITV and S4C in Wales and ABC News and SBS World in Australia.

I'm interested in the experiences of reporters at work and my BBC Radio Cymru series, Fy Stori Fawr, was published as a book by Y Lolfa in 2023.

My other interests include digital journalism, the future of Welsh-language journalism, clear communication, the art of storytelling as well as mentoring future journalists and creative communicators.

Research

I recently produced an educational resource for the Coleg Cymraeg to help students create bilingual content for social media. I collaborated with Canolfan Bedwyr in Bangor to create new Welsh terminology for social media studies through the medium of Welsh.

I am also interested in the experiences of journalists, producers and camera crews and my fourth radio series documenting their stories aired on BBC Radio Cymru in May 2024.

The first two series was published as a book, Fy Stori Fawr, in 2023.

Biography

Journalism has been my passion since I studied the subject as a student at Ryerson University, Toronto.

Over the past few years I've had the privilege of a varied freelancing career, producing documentaries for TV and radio and collaborating on a  variety of creative projects. My radio documentaries include four series of Fy Stori Fawr for BBC Radio Cymru. This is a series exploring the reporting experiences of prominent Welsh-speaking journalists. My other radio documentaries often explore identity and relationships.

My TV documentaries have been mostly difficult access documentaries, true crime, or current affairs. I produced and directed a documentary on the effects of misinformation during the pandemic, 'Covid, y Jab a Ni' which was subsequently nominated for a BAFTA Cymru in 2022. The same year, I was shortlisted for the Welsh Media Awards as specialist journalist of the year for my work for BBC Radio Cymru's Bwrw Golwg religious affairs programme.  I also have experience of investigative journalism with the brilliant team of journalists at Y Byd ar Bedwar, ITV Cymru.

I'm very interested in the experiences of reporters at work and my BBC radio series, Fy Stori Fawr, was published as a book by Y Lolfa in 2023.

Having started my career as a BBC Cymru Wales journalist, I moved to Australia with my family in 2016. I joined ABC News's foreign desk as a story producer in Sydney, working with foreign correspondents on developments around the globe. I also worked with the online team of journalists at SBS World during this period.

I still work as a journalist as one of the presenters of BBC Radio Cymru's religious affairs programme, Bwrw Golwg, and also have upcoming tv and radio documentaries in production.
