Overview

Marco Hauptmeier is Professor of Work and Employment and Pro Dean for Doctoral Studies at Cardiff Business School. His research in the area of international and comparative employment relations focusses on collective actors, including labour unions, European Works Councils and employers' organisations, inquiring how collective action is possible and results in collaborative advantages. He won an ESRC Future Research Leader grant for a study on UK employers' organisations and his current project, funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation, extends this research to the European level, focussing on European employer organisations. He has held academic visiting positions at the Juan March Institute in Madrid, the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, Boston University and Cornell’s ILR School. Marco is a Welsh Crucible and Cardiff Futures Alumni as well as the academic lead of the Cardiff Public Uni, an event series, in which more than 120 academics have presented their research to the public.
