Overview
I work in the Japanese programme, and I am involved with teaching Japanese language modules. My research interests include language contact and change and language use in contemporary Japan. My research work spans the fields of Sociolinguistics, Applied Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics and Japanese Studies.

Career overview
I began teaching Japanese at the University of Queensland (UQ) in 2007 while working on my doctorate degree there. During my time at UQ, I developed a special interest between language and the society in which it is used. Since then my main research interests lie in the area of Sociolinguistics, in particular, language contact and change, language in media and World Englishes, with special reference to Japanese contexts.
Prior to joining Cardiff University in April 2015, I held lectureships at Monash University and the University of the Sunshine Coast, where I was involved in teaching Japanese and socio/linguistic classes.
