Widening Participation Officer

I am a Widening Participation Officer in the WP and Outreach team. From 2021-23, I developed and delivered a project to support student transitions to Cardiff University during and 'post' Covid-19. I am now responsible for supporting outreach initiatives for priority groups, with particular focus on students with autism spectrum conditions and mature students.

In 2022, I completed my PhD in the School of English, Communication, and Philosophy. I researched the representation of 'unquiet' medieval queens in late Elizabethan history plays. I also delivered seminars and writing support tutorials.

My research interests include: queenship, early modern drama, history plays, Shakespeare, motherhood and maternity, old age and ageing women, feminism, periodisation (particularly medieval into early modern and 'premodernism')

I am also interested in teaching, technology-enhanced learning, study skills support, and transition to university. I am passionate about widening participation and outreach.

Undergraduate teaching

I have delivered seminars for the following undergraduate English Literature modules:

  • Critical Reading and Critical Writing (Core module)
  • Drama: Stage and Page
  • Star-Cross'd Lovers: The Politics of Desire
  • Transgressive Bodies in Medieval Literature

Step Up to University

As an Outreach PhD tutor for Cardiff University's Widening Participation scheme 'Step Up to University', I designed and delivered masterclasses to year 12 students from schools and colleges across South Wales.

  • English Literature and Creative Writing Across Time, Form, and Genre ('English' stream)
  • REBELLION!: Read, Said, Seen ('Language, Literacy, and Communication' stream)

The Brilliant Club's Scholars Programme
