Overview

Sheam maintains a special interest in Qur’anic Exegesis and Translation.

Sheam obtained her MA in Qur’ānic Exegesis from Qatar University in 2018, and a BA in Islamic Sciences from Princess Noura bint Abdul-Rahman University, Riyadh (2012). Sheam is currently a Ph.D candidate at Cardiff University’s ‘Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK’ in the Department of Religious and Theological Studies, researching Qur’ānic Exegesis and Translation.

As part of her community engagement work, Sheam has been active in the third sector for over twenty years delivering Islamic seminary-style lectures, as well as classes in the traditional ‘halaqa-format’ in Islamic centres of learning in the UK and overseas. Sheam has taught Islamic texts in the fields of Qur’anic Exegesis, Islamic Jurisprudence, Arabic Grammar and Morphology and more. She developed the curriculum for a two-year course specialising in the field of Qur’anic exegesis and Ulūm ul Qur’an (Qur’anic Sciences), which she has been teaching at various locations for over ten years both in the UK and overseas.

Sheam's main research interest is in Qur’anic Exegesis and Translation.
