Research

I am co-investigator on Rhondda Cynon Taf Health Determinants Resarch Collaboration. A five year, £5 milliion programme that aims to create a vibrant resarch culture in the Local Authroity, driving evidence-based decision-making to break the cycle of poverty, improve the life chances of the most disadvantaged, and address the wider determinants of health.

Previously, I was study manager of large multi-site healthcare improvement studies, comissioned by the National Institute of Health research (PUMA) and Royal College of Nursing Foundation (Pro-Judge).  PUMA - Paediatric Early Warning System - Utilisation and Mortality Avoidance  involved developing, implementing and evaluating an innovative approach to improving detection of deterioraton in children in UK hospitals.  Pro-Judge involved analysing the use of professional judgement in nurse staffing decisions. Prior to joining the Centre for Trials Research (CTR), I worked on a large-scale shared decision making implementation programme, funded by the Health Foundation ' MAGIC - Making Good Decisions in Collaboration with Patients'
