Research

My research interests focus on inclusive healthcare education, clinical learning environments, practice-based learning, and student support within radiography education. I am particularly interested in accessibility, neurodiversity, and understanding how educational and healthcare environments can be designed to support individuals whose needs may not be immediately visible.

My MSc research explored the experiences of dyslexic radiography students during clinical placements. Using a qualitative approach, the study examined students' perceptions of support within radiography departments and highlighted the importance of effective support systems, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive workplace cultures in promoting student success.

My work draws on principles of inclusivity, accessibility, and student-centred learning to enhance educational experiences within healthcare professions education. More broadly, I am interested in exploring how inclusive practices, environmental factors, and support mechanisms influence both learning and healthcare experiences for diverse populations.

Alongside my research interests, I contribute to wider discussions on inclusion and accessibility within higher education through professional writing and knowledge exchange activities, including publication with Advance HE on equity, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning in university teaching.

I am an Academic Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging (DRI) at Cardiff University. Prior to joining academia, I worked as a Diagnostic Radiographer for over 18 years at Morriston Hospital, gaining extensive clinical experience across CT, interventional radiology, cardiology, theatre, mobile imaging, and general radiography, as well as serving as a Radiation Protection Supervisor.

Since joining Cardiff University in 2022, I have held roles as Clinical Teacher and Academic Lecturer within the DRI programme. I am currently Module Lead for the first-year Clinical Practice module, Level 5 Lead, and DRI International Mobility Officer.

My interests focus on clinical education, student support, and inclusive approaches to healthcare education. My MSc research explored the support experiences of dyslexic radiography students during clinical placements, informing my commitment to creating supportive and inclusive learning environments for all learners.
