Professor Christopher Marshall
BSc(Hons), MSc, PhD, FIPEM, CSci
Director of Wales Research and Diagnostic PET Imaging Centre
Overview
Prof Marshall is a state registered Clinical Scientist specialising in Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmaceutical Production, Quality Management and Positron Emission Tomography. Prof Marshall joined PETIC in 2010 to take up the post of Operations Director after spending 6 years as Head of Radioisotopes in Northern Ireland and previously working at Lincoln and Aberdeen. In 2013, Prof Marshall was promoted to Director of PETIC in 2013 and has since significantly increased patient throughput and research activity within the facility.
In 2000, Prof Marshall commenced a part time PhD with the University of Aberdeen and successfully submitted his thesis on the role of Molecular Imaging in Monitoring and Predicting the Response of Breast Cancer to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in 2004.
Prof Marshall’s major achievements include designing, commissioning and project managing the new nuclear medicine facilities at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Northern Ireland Cancer Centre and the cyclotron facilities in both Belfast and Cardiff and well as leading on the introduction of an all Wales PET service and the production of several novel radiotracers and radiometals.
