Role responsibilities

As a Learning Technologist, I am involved with a wide range of learning and teaching, including designing and planning activities and programmes in partnership with academics, producing support materials and delivering specific training. In my role as Digital Education Partner for the Dental School, I work strategically with colleagues to improve the quality of digital provision for staff and students. I have also recently been working with the School of Optometry to support staff in the move to Blackboard Ultra. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Key work:

  • Design and delivery of online programmes
  • Staff training
  • Development of support resources
  • Support of Blackboard Ultra rollout
  • FutureLearn-Cardiff microcredential development
  • Digital histopathology

I was among the first generation of Learning Technologists in Cardiff University, and have experienced the evolution of the profession over the years. My first position was in the Dermatology department, where I was instrumental in the development of some innovative distance learning courses and projects including online histopathology teaching and live streaming of Dermatology surgery. I later moved to the central Learning Technology team in the Medical School where I continued to provide support and training. Most recently, I have been working as Digital Education School Partner for the Dental School and Ultra Partner for the School of Optometry.

In a previous life I have played the viola in the orchestra of Welsh National Opera and the European Union Youth Orchestra.
