Overview

As a PhD research candidate in the Lung Epigenetics group at Cardiff University, I am investigating the role of aberrant epigenetic modifications, namely DNA methylation changes, that have been observed in the lungs of patients with Chronic Lung disorders (e.g. COPD, IPF). To achieve this, I am establishing molecular toolset that allow the targeted introduction of epigenetic modifications into primary and immortalised human lung cell models, and exploring how these changes affect key disease pathways, such as capacity for repair and cell signalling.
