Research

My research focuses on the application of novel and traditional geochemical techniques in marine carbonates to understand three broadly defined themes (1) the stability of coral reef environments in the presence of external forcings (e.g. tectonics, climate, land use), (2) the biogeochemical drivers of climate and (3) understanding past major climate transitions.

Specifically, I employ a range of geochemical proxies to trace key aspects of climate, carbon cycle and the environment in the past. Using these proxies, I look to explore the drivers of health in coral reef systems and examine their adaptability in face of modern-day environmental stresses.  Also, I focus on understanding mechanisms driving major climate transitions across the last 65 million years in Earth's history.

Teaching

I am a Lecturer in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences and I teach within the Geography Degree Schemes. I teach a Year 3 module titled "Coral Reef Systems" and contribute to 'Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions' in Year 2 and 'Exploring Planet Earth' in Year 1.

I act as the School Safety Officer and further EDI activities.
