Dr Thomas Tatchell

Education and Students Manager

School of Chemistry

Overview

Since 1998, I have been deeply embedded within the School of Chemistry at Cardiff University, progressing through various stages as an undergraduate, postgraduate, and postdoctoral research associate.

My research focused on the synthesis and study of novel macrocyclic transition metal complexes, particularly for modelling biological systems like Photosystem II and detecting specific anions such as fluoride and cyanide.

In 2008, I was appointed as Admissions Tutor for the school, managing both undergraduate and postgraduate enrolments. I oversaw the UCAS admissions process and managed the administration of the postgraduate taught MSc schemes.

Since 2013 as Education and Students Manager, I lead the team responsible for administrative support of the taught students of the school. Responsibilities range from curriculum development, Revalidation, Accreditation submissions with our Professional body, The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Student Experience enhancement and programme portfolio development.
