School Manager
Overview
I am responsible for overseeing the School's administration to ensure that academic functions are effectively supported. The role includes contributing to strategic planning and development, managing the School's finances and financial planning, leading the professional services team, managing human resources processes, and ensuring that the School complies with the University's relevant policies and procedures.
I am also responsible for the School's governance structure, health and safety, and student services. I am a member of the School Board and a member of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Operations Board.
Biography
Originally from Anglesey, I first joined Cardiff University in 2009 as an undergraduate student. I graduated in Welsh and History in 2012 before completing an MA in Welsh and Celtic Studies here at Ysgol y Gymraeg.
I worked in the University's Student Recruitment Office for a period before moving to the School of Welsh as the Academic Support Officer in March 2015. Between November 2019 and April 2020, I was on secondment within the School as the National Project Coordinator for the Welsh Language Student Mentoring Scheme which was funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. Between November 2020 and December 2024 I was the School's Academic Manager before moving to my curent role.
Honours and awards
In 2020 I was nominated by students for the Most Inspirational Member of Staff award at the Students' Union Enriching Student Life Awards. In 2023 I was shortlisted in the Professional Services Staff Member of the Year category in the same Awards.
