Overview
I am a Qualitative Researcher in Cardiff School of Social Sciences within the Centre for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions for Public Health Improvement (DECIPHer).
While finishing my Master's in Applied Sociology and Philosophy at Cardiff Metropolitan University I worked as a Policy Officer for the Police and Crime Commissioners Office (OPCC) in Dyfed Powys. I began working at Cardiff University in 2014 as a research assistant for the Marie Curie Palliative Research Centre (MCPCRC) based within School of Medicine. In 2016 I moved to DECIPHer working initially on projects focusing on childrens physical activity and adolescent education regarding alcohol use. During my time at DECIPHer I have worked across a number of different areas within the public health domain. My current projects focus on physical activity in primary schools, health and wellbeing in the workplace and the use of behavioural science in developing public health interventions.

Research
My research interests are broad and during my time in DECIPHer I have worked across a number of different areas, primarily as a qualitative researcher. I have a particular interest in school, workplace and community-based interventions for health promotion and improvement, with a particular focus on mental health. At the moment, I am also heavily involved in research on e-cigarettes/vaping as well as physical activity. I have also developed experience and interest in research on ‘holiday hunger’ and food deprivation/poverty.
My experience is primarily in qualitative research on evaluations of complex public health interventions and policies including process evaluation methods and collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to intervention design with key stakeholders.
