Overview
I am a lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University, a member of the Visual Computing research section, and the leader of the Visualisation research group. My research interests lie in 3D reconstruction, visual understanding, and visual analytics. I am currently working on semantic segmentation and visual SLAM and researching visual analysis tools for explainable machine learning in computer vision.
Before becoming a lecturer, I was a postdoc in the school and worked on two projects: bas-relief generation (RIVIC) and realistic shape from shading (EPSRC). I received PhD from the University of York, United Kingdom, with a thesis on statistical approaches to gender classification in the surface normal domain. I also received an MSc and BSc in Computer Science from Nanjing University, China.
