Teaching

Erfan is a Lecturer in Computational Design Methods in Architecture, leading the module "Introduction to 3D Modelling and Parametric Design." He also co-leads the modules "Computational Form Finding" and "Algorithmic Design Thinking," where he guides students in applying computational strategies to architectural design and problem-solving.

 

Research

His research expertise lies in digital fabrication, algorithm-driven design, discrete design methodologies, and robotic fabrication. He works on design methods and the application of digital tools in architectural design, exploring how computational strategies enhance creative processes and design decision-making. His work also focuses on the integration of design and fabrication, developing workflows that bridge computational design with advanced fabrication techniques. As a member of the Computational Methods in Architecture Research Group, he investigates innovative approaches to linking computational design, digital fabrication, and robotic assembly in architecture.

Biography

Erfan holds a PhD in Digital Architecture from Robert Gordon University, UK, focusing on discrete design systems for integration with robotic assembly. He also completed an MSc in Architectural Design Innovation at the same institution.

With over eight years of experience as an architect and designer, Erfan's work connects academic research and professional practice, exploring the integration of computational design, digital tools, and smart fabrication methods in architecture. His work aims to advance technology-driven approaches that enhance both design creativity and fabrication efficiency.
