Overview

I lead the Systems Medicine Lab (https://yz-lab.org/) at the Systems Immunity University Research Institute and the Department of Infection & Immunity, Cardiff University. My research sits at the interface of AI, computational biology and systems medicine, with a focus on developing and applying computational methods that integrate multi-omics data, medical imaging and clinical information to understand human disease and advance diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic discovery. We are particularly interested in metabolic inflammation and immunometabolism, with applications spanning liver disease and other complex diseases.

Prior to joining Cardiff University, I worked at the World Health Organization and the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare, with experience spanning biomedical, computational and population health research.
