## Biography

Dr Zhu did his PhD in Metallurgy and Materials at Birmingham University (Oct. 1994 -- July 1997). Prior to joining the Cardiff School of Engineering, he worked as a research associate at Cambridge University (1997-2003). His research involves theoretical anaysis, computational simulation and experimental measurements. His research interests mainly focus on the mechanical and physical properties/behaviours of materials and structures, including cellular/porous materials, biological materials, nano-structured and hierarchical materials, composite materials, fibrous materials, functional materials, fracture mechanics, and energy harvesting.
