Mae Emiliano Spezi PhD, yn Athro mewn Peirianneg Feddygol yn Ysgol Peirianneg Prifysgol Caerdydd. Mae'n Gadeirydd y Pwyllgor Moeseg Ymchwil Ysgol ac Arweinydd y tîm Delweddu Bywyd a Dadansoddi Data. Ef yw cyn-Gyfarwyddwr Ymchwil yr Ysgol ac yn gyn-Arweinydd Grŵp Academaidd y Grŵp Ymchwil Peirianneg Feddygol. Mae'n Wyddonydd Clinigol cofrestredig yn y wladwriaeth gyda 15 mlynedd o brofiad gwaith mewn Ymchwil a Datblygu yn y Gwasanaeth Iechyd Gwladol (GIG), lle mae bellach mewn swydd anrhydeddus gydag Ymddiriedolaeth GIG Prifysgol Felindre a Chanolfan Ganser Felindre. Mae ei ddiddordebau ymchwil presennol yn canolbwyntio ar dri phrif faes: (1) Biofarcwyr Delweddu Meintiol a Radiomics, (2) Canllawiau Delwedd ar gyfer Meddygaeth Fanwl, (3) Modelu mewn Oncoleg Ymbelydredd.
Mae enghreifftiau o gymhwyso'r ymchwil a gynhyrchir yn labordy'r Athro Spezi yn cynnwys: (1) defnyddio dulliau segmentu delweddau uwch ym mhrawf radiotherapi PEARL fel y gwelir yn Newyddion y BBC, (2) defnydd arloesol o AI gydag Intel Corporation i wella cywirdeb ac effeithlonrwydd triniaethau radiotherapi (MedWales Lifestories Magazine, tt. 26), (3) datblygu dulliau dysgu ffederal i gynorthwyo ymchwil canser.
