Overview
I am currently pursuing a PhD in the Biomaterials Research Group at the School of Dentistry, Cardiff University.
My research interests include: dental implant materials, bone regeneration materials, and neutrophil responses.
My primary research is now focussing on exploring the role of neutrophil responses and immunomodulation between neutrophils and oral implant biomaterials, particularly titanium surfaces.
Research
My research project focuses on the effect of titanium surface topography on human neutrophil responses and immunological modulation. This includes the modification of titanium surface topography and the short-term and long-term biological responses of neutrophils after direct contact with titanium surfaces of different topographies.
The aim of this project is understand the features of titanium implant material that could evoke an acute, short-lived inflammatory response that will result in tissue regeneration, compared to features more likely to lead to a sustained immune response and result in chronic inflammation
