Mae Dr Ezgi Kaya yn Uwch Ddarlithydd (Athro Cysylltiol) mewn Economeg yn Ysgol Busnes Caerdydd, Prifysgol Caerdydd, yn gymrawd yn y Sefydliad Llafur Byd-eang (GLO) ac yn Gymrawd Ymchwil a ariennir gan ADR UK (Administrative Data Research UK), buddsoddiad gan y Cyngor Ymchwil Economaidd a Chymdeithasol (ESRC) (rhan o Ymchwil ac Arloesi'r DU). Mae hi hefyd yn gyd-ymchwilydd Rhwydwaith Absenoldeb Mamolaeth GW4 ac yn aelod o Goleg Adolygu gan Gymheiriaid ESRC.
Gydag arbenigedd mewn economeg lafur, microeconometreg gymhwysol a demograffeg economaidd, mae Dr Kaya yn gweithio gyda data arolwg a gweinyddol ar raddfa fawr a methodolegau cymhwysol. Mae ei phrojectau ymchwil yn archwilio rôl paru amrywiol a rhyngweithiadau aelwydydd ar ymddygiad cyflenwi llafur menywod a dynion priod, gyrwyr a nodweddion gwahaniaethau'r farchnad lafur, yn enwedig yn gysylltiedig â rhyw a mewnfudo, effaith polisïau sy'n gyfeillgar i deuluoedd, a'r berthynas rhwng sefydliadau'r farchnad lafur a ffrwythlondeb. Mae hi hefyd wedi cynnal ymchwil ar nodi effeithiau cyfoedion yng nghyd-destun perfformiad academaidd, canlyniadau economaidd tymor hir, a phenderfyniadau cyd-breswylio oedolion ifanc gyda'u rhieni—penderfyniad sy'n aml yn gysylltiedig â ffrwythlondeb, symudedd a chanlyniadau'r farchnad lafur yn y dyfodol.
